Dental Fillings (Tooth fillings )

Tooth colored fillings, also called white fillings or dental fillings that can restore and mimic the naturalappearance of original tooth structure. In addition to the restoring teeth that aredecayed or fractured, can even alter shape of teeth cosmetically to change the size and color. This quality is predominantly useful in making teeth appear to be more straight or even, closing the gaps in between the teeth, repairing chipped teeth.

In front teeth, tooth colored fillings are generally made up of composite resin and they will repair theabrasion problems,dental decayand erosion, with an unnoticeable end result. In back teeth, tooth colored fillings are usually used to repair thedecay or erosion problems. Crowns and bridges, porcelain veneers, ceramic onlays, can be used as the better solution for larger and more severe cavities, tooth colored fillings is not the best answer. Tooth color filling material can vary, but they are mainly prepared of synthetic resin, glass particles.

COMPOSITE RESIN:

A composite resin is a tooth colored plastic blend filled with the glass material (silicone dioxide). Also called as dental composites and are confined to only the front teeth, because they are not too strong enough to resist the pressure and wear generated by the back side teeth. Since then, composites have been significantly improved and manufactured accordingly that can be successfully placed in the back teeth as well. Composites are not only used for restoring decay, but also used for cosmetic enhancement of the persons smile by varying the color of the teeth and reshaping the disfigured teeth.

GLASS IONOMER MATERIALS:

Glass ionomer materials are only used for the teeth in the place where you do not have hard bite down. New forms of the filling are stronger and last longer. These glass ionomer fillings are the same color as your natural teeth and they contain fluoride, which will helps to stop recurrent decay in the tooth.

PORCELAIN MATERIALS:

Porcelain materials are brittle and hard and are the same color as natural teeth. These are the most common type of dental ceramic used by dentists. Porcelain fillings can last a long time. Dental porcelain is made in a dental lab.
